Close to 50% of the American Jewish population is over 50 years of age (Pew Foundation 2020). Are we living longer and living better? We will look at four classic Jewish values that can form an ethical and theological foundation for this revolution in longevity.
Rabbi Richard F Address, D.Min is founder and director of Jewish Sacred Aging®, the web site jewishsacredaging.com and host of the weekly Seekers of Meaning podcast/tv. Ordained from HUC-JIR in 1972, he served congregations in California and New Jersey and over 3 decades on staff of Union for Reform Judaism as regional director of PA Council and then founding director of the Department of Jewish Family Concerns.
He teaches classes and seminars on the impact of longevity on congregations, serves as adjunct faculty at HUC-JIR in the D.Min program and at Wurzweiler School of Social Work in their Certification program in Gerontology and Palliative care. He works with the Jewish advisory group for Samaritan Hospice in South NJ and other groups that look at issues related to aging.
