‘Why Build Bridges Across Difference?’

Black and Jewish America: An Interwoven History is a four-part series from acclaimed scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr., exploring the rich and complex relationship between Black Americans and Jewish Americans throughout our nation’s history. It is a kinship defined by powerful moments of solidarity and painful episodes of division. Drawn together by racism and antisemitism, these communities forged cultural bonds, especially during the civil rights era. The series explores both the challenges and the enduring promise of that alliance. We will be watching episode 3 only.

Panel and audience discussion facilitated by Robin Riley-Casey, Associate Dean of Students and Director of Community Belonging at Muhlenberg College and Dan Poresky, host of the JCC Jewish Film Nights program.

Sponsored by Brit Olam and Lifelong Learning Committees of Keneseth Israel
